Long ago,there was a farmer,who borrowed money from a landlord for cultivation purpose. That year he worked very hard but due to natural calamity(flood), all his crops were destroyed. He was in debt. The landlord asked him to return his money within 5 days or he will marry his beautiful daughter. Both, the farmer and his daughter were stunned by this. One day passed...two days passed......similarly all days passed but the farmer was unable to return his money. On the fifth day,landlord along with his men rushed to farmer's house. As he was throwing threatening words on farmer,his daughter came up with a solution. She said I will marry you but I have one condition. Landlord agreed in no time out of his ego,thinking he can do everything in the world. So girl asked him to meet her next day near the railway track.
Next day,entire village along with farmer,his daughter and landlord gathered near the railway track. The girl said that here is a closed container,you open it,pick two pebbles from the railway track and put it inside the container and close it. But those two pebbles should be different i.e one of white color and other of any dark color. She added further,if I will pick white color pebble, my father's debt would be forgiven and I will marry you. If dark colored pebble comes out,I will not marry you and still you have to let go the loan. The landlord accepted immediately.
So he turned around and picked two pebbles,both white. The girl saw this from the corner of her eye. Everyone present there was sure,now she will have to marry her. No one came forward that landlord is cheating by not following the condition which girl said,as he was a powerful and masculine man. So he turned again,facing the girl,and laughed and asked her to pick a pebble. The girl asked that have you followed all my instructions while choosing the pebbles and he replied Yes i habe.
At that very moment,there was the horn of the railway engine,coming towards them. As soon as everyone turned towards the sound(except the landlord) she picked a white stone and knowingly dropped it on the track. The pebble got lost among million of other pebbles. The girl said:- Oh I am very sorry. But we can find out which pebble I picked. She said let's look into the container. The container has a white pebble,this means I picked a dark colored pebble and so I won.
The landlord was shocked and also he could not argue as he himself cheated and accepted that he had followed all her conditions while choosing the pebbles.
