During his reign, the last Nizam of Hyderabad (Osman Ali Khan) was the richest man in the world, having a fortune estimated at US$2 billion in the early 1940s (At a time when the annual revenue of Union government of India was US$1 billion only).
Calculating his modern-day worth, accounting for inflation, the Nizam was worth $236 billion, making him one of the wealthiest people to have ever lived !!
For all those who are asking where the money went after his death-
1) The major portion of this money was in the form of jewels which were auctioned by his heirs which by the way comprises of 34 children and 104 grandchildren (Seems Nizam was an Arya-putra)
2) A part is locked in Royal Bank of Scotland. Nizam's finance minister Moin Nawaz Jung, gave this money to H I Rahimatoola , Pakistan’s new high commissioner in London for acquiring arms and ammunitions to tackle Indian Army. This money is still lying in the bank. RBS refuses to release the sum unless all three parties—India, Pakistan and the Nizam’s heirs—come to an agreement.
3) A part went to Indian Government after Operation Polo.
