Send your kids to school - Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan

In a small village in India, Mr. Prasad used to teach nursery students. That day, as usual, he was teaching alphabets-
"A for...", masterji asked.
"AAApple", children shouted.
"B for.."
"Baaaaall"
"C for..."
"Caattt"
"But masterji....", interrupted a feeble-looking girl Kamla. "Why do we say A for Apple only? It can also be Axe, Air, Ant, etc."
Mr. Prasad was shocked, but he explained politely, "Yes beta, it can be anything that stars with letter A. Whats your name?"
"Kamla", she said.
"Very good beta, very good", masterji blessed her.
Mr. Prasad was unable to sleep that night. In his 20 years of teaching experience, no nursery student had ever shown such a clear understanding of alphabets.
Next day Kamla was absent. Her absenteeism continued for a week. Masterji became tensed. He asked the students but no one had any idea about Kamla. Masterji then checked the school register for her address.
On reaching her house he saw Kamla washing utensils.
"Whats the matter Kamla? Why are you not coming to the school?"
"Masterji my father says we cant afford your education. Its better you learn house chores", she said with a smiling face.......

To deal with the issue, government has a scheme named SSA. Details below:

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (EnglishThe Education for All Movement) (SSA), is an Indian Government programme aimed at the universalisation of elementary education "in a time bound manner", as mandated by the 86th amendment to the Constitution of India making free and compulsory education to children of ages 6–14 (estimated to be 205 million in number in 2001) a fundamental right. The programme was pioneered by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
